I'm trying to find acupunture to help some of my dad's symptoms of Parkinsons.? My neighbor said there is an acupuncture practice where all of the needles go into the ears and that it isn't done in the US. She said it isn't the typical acupuncture that is done for illnesses.

Symptoms are like that of Parkinsons? My hands shake, but my motor skills aren't affected at all. The only thing that really upsets me is this noticable shaking that my hands do when I'm trying to do something, like open a can. I don't have any stiff or painful joints, just this embarrassing shaking. Does anyone else have this... and if so.... how do you cope? I've had this for about 15 years, and it's something I deal with every day, and it's embarrassing. My husband is so wonderful about it, but I was wondering if anyone else's doctor has suggested any type of treatment (if there is any). My doctor just says that "some people get this."
What does the rabble know about Lyme and Parkinsons? Are they now related diseases or is there Lyme induced Parkinson's symptoms. This is serious because I am being analyzed. "Rabble" actually means "vociferous crowd" and not derogatory.

Parkinsons "cures" are regularly featured in the media. most are false dawns. Is it ok to give false hope? Parkinsons disease is an umbrella term for a group of diseases for which the treatment of symptoms, varies enormously. I emphasise.treatment is not for the disease itself, but for the symptoms. Reports of "cures" are for symptoms only. I was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 1998,& have lost count ofthe times, good people have told me a new wonder cure was on the tv.In the paper etc. They dont understand why I am not overjoyed
My father was diagnosed with Parkinsons a couple of weeks ago. What treatments should he ask for? I was thinking of physio as well as medication. Is there any alternative medicine treatment available and effective? His symptoms are tremors and difficulty in walking. He is 86 years old but still active.
Alternative medicine for Parkinsons? My mom has recently been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. I know there is no cure. Are there any alternative treatments that would at least help with symptom control?

My mom might have parkinsons,i'm so depressed, how do i function and be strong? My mom went the doctors today and he said there is a chance she may have Parkinson's because she has most of the symptoms of it. I looked it up and i think she has it. I have already lost my dad(his death was preventable),and if my mom goes i dont want to be here anymore either,i've been so down all day and i find it hard to function. Can this disease kill you?
Lupus & Parkinsons are genetic/hereditary, so......? knowing that they can be passed down the generations, would you want to know if you had any of them so you can prepare for the future, or would you want to wait til you were older when symptoms started to show? my nan has parkinsons and my mum has lupus, both my brother and sister have been tested for both and they are clear....but i dont know whether i want to be teasted or not... sensitive q i know.....thanks fore ur answers apologies, genetic....hereditary..they mean the same to me...
What is the probability I inherit my grandfathers parkinson? So my grandfather had parkinsons, is it likely that I will have it as well... are there ways to identify symptoms at an early age?
My partner was started on clozeril today. She is scared to pieces! Anyone had any experience with this? She has been put on a very low dose. She has borderline personality disorder and so far has not been able to tolerate any other of the anti-psychotics. After about a week on others tried she gets those very scary shakes and twitches of parkinsons symptoms and still has the "voices". He scared her by saying it is the strongest thing available, but that it does not have the side effects that have troubled her in the past. We know all about the white blood cell problem, she had to submit a blood test to get the stuff, that scared her too! I just hope it will be the "majic pill" that will help her get back to her old self again!
Serious answers only please: Medical pros: Can smoke inhalation from a fire cause brain damage? I am having a hard time understanding something, and I need help with this: I have a friend that told me his Dad was over come with smoke from a barn fire years ago - and he is now confined to a wheelchair resulting from the smoke and that it caused brain damage and he now has symptoms of Parkinsons....I can't divulge the reason I need to know, but can someone tell me how accurate this sounds? Thanks

is wolf, parkinsons, white syndrome hereditary? ive had this condition over 25yrs. my daughter now has the same symptoms but no diagnosis.
Has anyone else had these symptoms? I have had more blood drawn from me then I care to remember. I have been to the family doctor, hepatologist, rheumatologist, had CAT scans, MRI's, etc. etc. My liver enzymes go way up and way down for no reason, I have an inflamed liver that is enlarged double the size it should be, I have tested negative for Hep A, B, C all for the past five years, the only test positive was a slightly high diffuse pattern ANA test. Some days or weeks I am fine. Then all the sudden, it feels like half my brain and face get this funny feeling, if the pain gets too severe, I get tremors in my face and head like a parkinsons patient, not all the time. My muscles hurt so bad and get so weak sometimes I can not hold up my head. The sun makes it worse. My joints hurt, my muscles hurt, then one day it goes away til it feels like coming back again. I am so frustrated it has been 5 years!! Also There was pericardial fluid noted on an abdominal CAT, DOES ANYONE EVER HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS? ANY IDEAS? HELP PLEASE!

Post Polio Syndrome vs Parkinsons, are they connected? I have Post Polio Syndrome with all the associated issues. Now the doctor says I may have Parkinson's. He says because of my "symptoms" that I could have Parkinson's, but he did not say whether it is in place of PPS or in addition to it. All the research I've been doing doesn't tell me much. Is there a connection between the two conditions? Or am I just one of the "lucky" ones with multiple conditions? Lyme Disease is caused by the deer tick NOT sexually transmitted. Plus I've gone through a battery of tests of which Lyme Disease and Lupus were ruled out.
Alzheimers versus Parkinsons disease? I need medical professionals advice or info here please. My dad has been deteriorating for the last three to four years now. As a nurse the symptoms brought straight to mind Alzheimer's but now I am seeing some other things that are more comparable to Parkinson's. His memory is very poor (short term being the worst) his behavior is terrible, he is rude and yells and is suspicious all of the time. He yells at my mom and myself for no reason and says some extremely hurtful things. He has lost interest in eating ( he is on megace). We(mom, myself and my daughters and dad) will have a big conversation about something important and he will deny ever having heard anything about it. Now he is having to use a walker (badly even though i keep showing him the right way!!) I have noticed the shuffling gait. He is falling quite often ( 4-5 times a week) Dad is 76, three years ago he was so alive and smart and vibrant and now he falls even using a walker :( Please, any help will be appreciated. i looked online for a side by side guide to symptoms of both disorders but was unable to find one, hoping maybe someone else will be able to. Morgan. My dad has no idea that theres anything wrong with him. He thinks we are all exaggerating. I wish I could get him into a wheelchair but he wouldn't do it, it took us ages to talk him into the walker! My mom and I are his caregivers but he seems to think his illness is his heart disease and nothing to do with his brain. He's a crusty Englishman and stiff upper lip is his response to just about everything. Mom is exhausted and Im getting there. We have sat with him and tried to explain whats going on but he gets extremely aggitated and won't hear of it. I think your response is great though. If we could just get him to understand!!
homeopathic treatment for Parkinson's disease? is there any homeopathic medicine for trembling, stiffness and dizziness.(symptoms of parkinsons disease)i m facing all these.
Question about Wilson's Disease? I'm wanting other people's opinion, especially any medical people. I'm wondering if it would be goofy of me to ask to be tested for Wilson's Disease. I don't think I have the rings they talk about(do you have to?), but below are my symptoms and my parents. my symptoms anemia enlarged liver-seen on cat scan-might be reidels lobe mild fatty liver-seen on cat scan high ast and alt muscle weakness tingling in feet and hands digestive problems-constipation fibromyalgia nightvision problems-problems with bright lights memory problems very itchy legs weight gain father-parkinsons symptoms,gait,anxiety,constipation-his parkinsons isn't really major shakes even after 10 years of having it. mom-severe insomnia, kidney stones, anxiety, constipation, ostioperosis, nightvision problems, memory problems, weight gain, macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma. If not Wilson's, what might I get checked for? I've had a hepatitis test and that was negative. My liver isn't inflamed, so I don't think that is it. I don't think it's scarred either.
20 year olds hands shake, what could the reason be, thanks? my nephew is 20, for around 5 years now his hands shake,, not if theyr flat on a table, but when he holds something in mid air, i read about early parkinsons symptoms, he dosent seem to have the symptoms thankfully, he eats well, sometimes does skip breakfast though, but his hands will still tremble after he eats so i dont think its his sugar levels he asked his dr but the dr said its cos he takes ventolin for his asthma, but he told me he dosent take it enough to cause trembling! are there any reasons he shakes?,, it hasnt gotten worse in the 5 years, its about the same please help if you can, thanksxxxxxxx and he DOSENT SMOKE, DO DRUGS OR DRINK EITHER,, HES A VERY GOOD BOY!, LOL HE PLAYS THE GUITAR ALOT,, HE PLAYS IT LIKE A PRO, WHICH IS GOOD SINCE HE SHAKES, HE DOSENT SHAKE WHEN HES ON THE GUITAR!
whats wrong with my dog? twice now in the last 2 days our 8 year old pug has displayed symptoms symilar to parkinsons. Head shaking unable to balance. The first one only lasted about 15 minutes but today she had another one when she came in from outside and this one has lasted about an hour. We had to put her in her kennel and close the door so she'll be still and quiet. I live in a small village and it's the weekend with no vet around. can anyone help with some information please.
Can OCD have an actual physical symptom? I've known that I've had OCD for a long time, but I also have a problem in that my hands tremble which can't be applied to any medical condition like parkinsons or whatever (I was told it was my thyroid but after some tests they found that to be false) I was wondering if OCD could have other physicl symptoms (other than certain compulsions) such as being what's causing my hands to tremble.
I'm only 20, however I've been experiencing stiff and painful joints, what could be the cause? I've been experiencing stiff joints especially around the finger joints. Also, some back pain and knee pain. I'm only 20. Will these symptoms disappear or am I having athritis? I've visited the docter and I was told not to worry but that I should see a physiotheraphist just for my knees. What about the other areas like my finger joints, elbows, and my back? Has anyone experienced these pains before and will they eventually go away? Are these signs of Parkinsons? Please help.
Is there something from the health food store to help wtih my father's knee pain? He has Parkinsons disease and the doctor says this is a normal symptom. The pain relief rubs seem to have minimal effect. How about Flaxin (sp?) ? I heard it on "Duke and the Doctor" and it is suppose to help with joint pain.
Undiagnosed medical problems are baffling doctors and someone out there might know. Please help? My symptoms are peripheral neuropathy, high blood pressure, headaches, severe aches and pains, hard to swallow, feel like I'm choking, dehydrated though I drink lots of water, 24 hour urine test indicated Pheochromocytoma. MRI said no tumour on adrenal glands. Carpal tunnel, radial nerve damage, leg buckles out from under me, Had not been able to walk for a month, got better, then had drop wrist, getting better after a month. Doctor tests says I'm fairly healthy. No diabetes, No thyroid problem, blood tests all normal. My symptoms come and go. My feet go through cycles of turning really red and going back to normal. My eyesight has gotten a lot worse lately. My hearing is worse but a hearing test said hearing was normal. Sometimes I shake like I have Parkinsons. Long list of conditons were eliminated. I am having an MRI for my brain this week. What else could it be?
Nervous system problems? Stuff happening, freaking me out? I'm a 38 year old realatively healthy male, I don't think it is parkinsons, as most of the symptoms I'm having are movement related. My left fingers when I spread my fingers in my left hand apart and slowly try and move then inward toward eachother, they shake dramatically out of control. My right does too, but not nearly as bad. My lips feel like they quiver sometimes and they other day they started shaking when drinking water. If i use the muscles in my face to scrunch up my nose almost like a squinting facial expression, the muslcles in my face on both sides of my nose shake up and down out of control, again extremely dramatically. The condition seems to be worsening. Any idea on what this might be?
Restless Leg Syndrome link to dopamine? I recently did a sleep study that led to a diagnosis of Restless Leg Syndrome. I was goven a drug called Ropinirole to treat it. Since, I have learnt that Ropinirole was originally formulated for treating Parkinsons, which is caused by a deficiency of dopamine. I know I don't have Parkinsons (thank heavens), but looking up the symptoms of a dopamine deficiency, a lot of bells rang for me. Depression, inabilty to make decisions, arthralia ( i used to have arthralia so bad I used to have to use a walking stick - at 23 years old!!), lethargy, reduced labido. It was amazing to see the similarity between these symptoms and what I go through. Could it be, that I have a dopamine deficiency? How seriouse is it if I do? I've got a patholgy test for it coming up (gotta pee in a bottle for 24 hours) and I don't know if I should be concerned or not.
Is it possible to have a form of mad cow from sweet meat (cow organ) eaten in the 1960's and 1970's? My grandfather was a butcher in a packing house. He became demented at an early age (not blood grandpa). He had a strange gait, difficult speech, ataxia, tremors similar to parkinsons, sleep difficulties, loss of balance and could not take care of himself by age 70. Grandma ate the same crud from the packing house. She acts just like he did and she has not had a stroke. It is uncanny how similar their symptoms are.
Anyone familiar with adverse sexual side-effects from Parkinson's Disease medications? More and more Parkinsonians are coming forward complaining about strange and odd behavioral and impulse control problems they believe stem from the medications that they have to take to help relieve the symptoms they have from Parkinsons Disease. Some of these individuals got the idea from the Mirapex commercials that had been playing on TV. I know the commercials say it's for RLS (restless leg syndrome), but Mirapex has also been prescribed to PD patients for quite a while, and some of the side-effects indicated are "impulse gambling" and "hypersexuality". Mirapex and other dopamine agonist (PD meds) do effect the part of the brain that deals with impulse control, but thats also the area where the dopamine agonists need to go in order to help relieve PD symptoms. So what does a person who is stricken with a disabling disease do when they are also having this "urge" or "impulse" to gamble their money away or seek out prostitutes or worse, act out sexually in a inappropriate way?
The Drug L-Dopa??? has anyone any info on this drug, my uncle is bi-polar,and he is being treated for Parkinsons with L-Dopa,his symptoms of depression and maniac episodes have deminished profoundly, any serious answer's wouldd be greatly appreciated.
What do adult children do whentheir parents die, especially ifthere's not much trust betweenthem? My sister lied to my father three weeks after mom died. I got out of the hospital and he and my husband came to get me. He was was obviously sick-I'm a nurse. I took him right to ER and he was admitted with pneumonia. From that point to the day he died, she conviced him I was trying to set him up to go to a nursing home or something. Prior, even at my mothers death I was the family medical descision maker, whether I wanted to be or not. She convinced him when he was in the hospital ( she has started a lot of stuff when mom was dying.), that I was no longer competent, that I was trying to set him up to go to a nursing home, got him to move in with her. He never trusted me again. He died after started a new Parkinsons drug. Even though I suggested he call the Dr. because he had possible reaction symptoms, they convinced him not to. It killed him. Now, we have to settle affairs. I don't trust her. She has all financial information at her house.
Please help! im confused? Im 20 years old. I have been having strange and uncommon symptoms. I have had 2 mris, and many doctor visits, without any answers. I visited a neurologist recently and she said it is possible that I may have a mild form of parkisons, but she is really not sure, because the symptoms are not clear enough to suggest that parkinsons is present. Im really worried! I been on zoloft for 7 years since age 13. I wonder if it has caused this? I asked all my doctors including neurologist and they strongly said no, but have a strong suspition that it has. The symptoms started when I tryed to slowly ween myself off a year ago. I really have not been the same since then. I have no idea what is going on. I was told that parkisons can also cause apathy, depression, and low mood, which I am also having. I have a very low interest in things. The physical symptoms are always present as well, and wish a doctor can tell me what is going on. Please help can the zoloft really cause this?
OK anyone know what the point of allowing someone to suffer a long drawn out death is? What is Gods rational? I just posted a question about if people would break the 6th comandment to put someone out of thier misery and this is one of the responses I got: "A person's life force comes from God. When God is ready for that person to die, then He will take him. We should do nothing to "send him home" before his time" And not to pick on this person in anyway (as I got some similar to this) but I can not understand the rational in God allowing someone to suffer something like Alzhiemers, post stroke symptoms that leave the person totally bed bound and contracted having to bed fed with a g-tube, advanced ALS or Parkinsons. I used to work in a nursing home and would see this all the time, people totally bed bound yet still around for years. I am not questioning the cause of these things or if God caused them yet the rational explanation as to why God would continue to allow these people to suffer and not just bring them "home".
My grandmother needs help? She has very mild parkinsons and she is 65 but her symptoms include her being very dizzy (to the point its hard for her to walk) and she feels very weak all the time she also has trouble eating any protein she says it makes her even sicker also her blood sugar bounces very high with anything she eats it almost jumps to the point of where she could have a stroke. she has seen countless doctors and none of them know whats wrong. She had open heart surgery about 8 years ago and everything went fine i dont know if the surgery had anything to do with it but i thought the more details the better. please anyone help us we are almost to the point of no return.
Do i have parkinson's? I do know that 90% of cases are males over 65, but all of my grandmothers for three generations of them (as far as i know), have all had early onset parkinsons. but here's the kicker: i'm a male, but i'm only 23. i know it seems improbable, but some days i get up with a noticeable ocilating tremor in my right hand, and i am going through ridgedness, and some urinary symptoms which are also known to signal early PD. what do you think?
restless leg syndrome maybe ,? I have extreme pain and it is worst durring rest , I mean for 2 years I have been suffering , the pain is worse in feet and legs like burning , numbness , stabbing and oddly these feelings can radiate to my stomach and lungs (strange) and even my face, I dont work because of this , also along with the pain is uncontrollable muscle movements like seen in parkinsons. I dont work because of this , The thing is symptoms are always there but movement reduces them , and when i walk They are pretty much gone , but I have to shake my legs when im watching tv or going to bed. I have been seeing docters for 2 years ( many of them) and explain my symptoms , and these guys are idiots to a point i wonder how they got their degree. These docters just say its anxiety and depression , I cant believe that anxiety can cause severe pain and uncontrollable muscle spasms. These docters are mental and they gave me anti depressants , which never work. I have been reading does this sound like RLS?
My Fathers Heart? Hello, My Father has Parkinsons Disease. He takes 1 1/2 sinemet(25/100 strength) every 2 hours throughout the day, 1 flomax(0.4mg) in the morning, 1 levthyroxine(0.05mg)in the morning(to increase his thyroid function, it was low) and at bedtime he takes 1 clozapine(25mg) and 1 lorazepam(1mg). A year ago his blood pressure dropped so low he started passing out and was prescribed midodrine(2.5mg) to raise his blood pressure. That worked fine as I gave it to him every two hours and he was fine. I monitor his blood pressure throughout the day and it is usually within acceptable range. About two months ago after taking it the reading was 205/69 with the pulse at 70. Right after he wakes up his blood pressure is about 86/45 pulse 70 and then three or four hours later it's 105/58 pulse 82 and then in the evening it rises to 151/55 pulse 58 and up to the 200/55. We discontinued the Midodrine. What could be causing the hypertension symptoms? Is 80/33 Dangerous? What can we do?Thank U!
Tremor from Anxiety? I am 16, this shouldn't be happening. I keep getting the feeling that a small Earthquake is happening, when I am sitting still of lying in bed. It happens a few times in a row then goes away for a few days to a week. it is my whole body that feels it I think - but mostly the lower part. I have researched this and really it would seem like I have Parkinsons. I do have severe anxiety so perhaps it could be linked to this? I am not on any medication. arghh... help me! I'm freaking a bit, it happened really badly today and now I feel sick/ nervous tension. I cannot go to my docs, I see him wayy too much about all my generally trivial symptoms. I have had blood tests for everything, they were all fine thx

I have been noticing sudden changes in my personality, what is the explanation? For the past couple years, I have gone through quite a bit of "hell" you could say. My father and mother had a very messy divorce such as abuse (verbal and physical), illness in the family (Father gets parkinsons), I have 2 suicide attempts (both I wind up in a psych ward), and this all happened from the period of my life when I was 12-15. Through this time I have noticed a sudden, and extremely rapid change in personalities every once in awhile. I become very confident, happy, yet impulsive person one moment, and a depressed, extremely anxious, "crazy" teen the next. I am still 15, almost 16 and I feel like I have more than one person inside of me, they're fighting for me. It caused me to almost kill myself again tonight, so I want to get this fixed. I cheated on my girlfriend and I don't remember a thing. I blank out for moments at a time. Are these symptoms of multipersonality syndrome, depression, teenage years, or anything else? What should I do?
