Why is my dog's head shaking like she has Parkinsons? My chihuahua is about a year and a half old. I noticed today her head is shaking like someone with Parkinsons. It is strange. She is also low on energy. She went to lay down and take a nap and usually she's running around full of energy. She also seems kind of uncoordinated when she's jumping and walking. Is there something wrong with her?? Do dogs get Parkinsons or Neurological disorders?

Now I have a problem and would like to know if anyone else has this disease , I have parkinsons,? I was wondering if anyone else has this disease, I just diagnosed with it. how do you handle it. do you worry about it. I'm in the early stages so the dr. says, but I'v been experiencing the symptems for the past 6 years and thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I saw several drs. and they dismissed me and prescribed anti-depressants for me, which didn't help, I do get depressed and want to hurt myself sometimes. sometimes i feel like I can't go on.. I have to force myself to get dressed just to go to the store, my tremors are better except when I'm stressed. I walk better too and move my arms better because of the meds. they put me on.. I tire out very easy but because I look healthy, family doesn't understand why I have to rest every day.
Can Muhammad Ali walk? This may be very ignorant of me, but I am just learning about the legacy of MUhammad Ali as I begin to write an essay about him. However, i was just wondering, I know that he has parkinsons. does this mean he cant walk? what does it meean?
How long does it take for parkinson's disease to cause you death? My grandpa has had parkinson's disease for a long time. 5 years ago, he was seemingly healthy, could walk and everything. And now, he cant walk, cant talk good, twicthing alot, and very thin. Im really worried that his time to drawing near. If anyone has had a family member with parkinsons, please let me know everything that happened.

Please Help. My dog is 11 years old but has recently started licking everything she comes into contact with.? She's licking floors, inside shoes, chairs, tables, absolutely everything she can reach. She's also started eating random things off the street. She's even started eating empty snail shells from the garden. She's being fed enough, infact we're feeding her more to stop her doing this and she also has plenty of water at all times. She doesn't seem to be suffering from dementia because she's still the same dog in every other way but we don't know what's wrong with her. She's also been shaking constanly for about 18 months now .Her whole body quivers. It's like she has parkinsons although she does't shake when she walks. She's a jack russell by the way. Thanks.
is this parkinsons? :S? ´m always trembling now, starting to get worse and worse, day by day. when i play sports, i get some bad dizzy spells, and my body just collapses. I get dizzy spells whenever i´m moving my body to the sides. I´m always limping, my reflexes have deteriorated much lately. Sometimes my hand just starts to twitch like crazy. i have gotten a wierd walking habbit, and i can´t even hold a pencil quietly anymore. I have "extreme" ocd. Is this parkinsons?

Is there a March of Dimes Walkathon in the fall? I used to participate as a teenager, and then life caught up. I'd like to get involved again. I'd also love to hear about other charity walks if anyone out there would like to share info in their cause. (causes personal to me: ALS, Parkinsons, Cancer, alzheimers...) In NYC area please.

Dementia is taking my mom. I really need some support to get through this.? Please help. In April my mom suffered a series of mini strokes and a mild heart attack. She had been living alone and doing fine (82 yrs old). The hospital wanted rehab because she was weak on one side. After a week in a nursing home she started hallucinating that people who have died were there. (my dad died a year ago). She has a blocked carotid artery and has since been diagnosed with Parkinsons. She is hallucinating such nightmarish things now that it is so scary because she is terrified at what she sees. She is always talking about her family being murdered, or shot in the head, a hit list on her family, etc. She can no longer walk on her own and is so scared she tries to get up to help whoever she is hallucinating about and ends of falling. This week she fell twice. I feel so bad for her because in her mind she is living this nightmare. Any suggestions on how I can comfort her. When I try to explain everything is o.k. I get a blank stare. Please help.
Undiagnosed medical problems are baffling doctors and someone out there might know. Please help? My symptoms are peripheral neuropathy, high blood pressure, headaches, severe aches and pains, hard to swallow, feel like I'm choking, dehydrated though I drink lots of water, 24 hour urine test indicated Pheochromocytoma. MRI said no tumour on adrenal glands. Carpal tunnel, radial nerve damage, leg buckles out from under me, Had not been able to walk for a month, got better, then had drop wrist, getting better after a month. Doctor tests says I'm fairly healthy. No diabetes, No thyroid problem, blood tests all normal. My symptoms come and go. My feet go through cycles of turning really red and going back to normal. My eyesight has gotten a lot worse lately. My hearing is worse but a hearing test said hearing was normal. Sometimes I shake like I have Parkinsons. Long list of conditons were eliminated. I am having an MRI for my brain this week. What else could it be?
Caregiver who leaves her dad alone for a couple of hours? My neighbor who is caring for her dad who is 91, has parkinsons, diabetic, cant walk, leaves her dad alone for a couple of hours at a time during the day with the doors locked..He does not have med alert, or phone on him...Is that legal, or should she be reported to aps? Its been a bad situation, as the mother is a mental patient, and the daughter is too... The daughter is 57..the daughter yells at the dad all day..and I hate to say it but she is a gold digger..She threw everything away of theirs, and put her stuff in the house..Has the cars too..The brother is a eye doc in San antonio and never comes to see him..When he was in a convelescent home my husband and I were there everynight... I think he needs to be back there. the daughter quit her job to take care of him in his house..His wife is in a convelescent home now..The daugher and mother hate each other...I know its a sad story..and just dont know what to do at this point..The dad just wants to die...She doesnt have friends, as she has run them all off, because of her ranting and raving..
Restless Leg Syndrome link to dopamine? I recently did a sleep study that led to a diagnosis of Restless Leg Syndrome. I was goven a drug called Ropinirole to treat it. Since, I have learnt that Ropinirole was originally formulated for treating Parkinsons, which is caused by a deficiency of dopamine. I know I don't have Parkinsons (thank heavens), but looking up the symptoms of a dopamine deficiency, a lot of bells rang for me. Depression, inabilty to make decisions, arthralia ( i used to have arthralia so bad I used to have to use a walking stick - at 23 years old!!), lethargy, reduced labido. It was amazing to see the similarity between these symptoms and what I go through. Could it be, that I have a dopamine deficiency? How seriouse is it if I do? I've got a patholgy test for it coming up (gotta pee in a bottle for 24 hours) and I don't know if I should be concerned or not.
So, Old Miss Marple is mad at me.....? ....and I 'm not sure what to do.... Me and Miss Marple, we used to take walks in the park and sit near the waterfall, and I'd let her hold my "manhood". It was nice just sitting there, with her holding it. Then one day, she caught me in the park with Old Miss Mayberry, and Miss Mayberry was holding my "manhood". She got all mad and yelled "What does Miss Mayberry have that I don't??"" And I said "Parkinsons!"" Do you think she'll walk in the park with me anymore? Brandon- Let go of the pink pencil and tell mommy you're sorry. Brandon is gone. Hmm. Trolls are out today, eh?

Is my psychiatrist breaking the law? Hi, I go to a psychiatrist and want to know if he is beaking the law. I am bipolar and have OCD. I went to him the other day and when I walked in his office and sat down and said hi, he leaned over in my face (and he had a bad cold) and said, "What's up BIOTCH!" REALLY loud like 2 inches from my face. I never talk to him but politely and this upset me. I also told him that my father had fallen and broken two ribs and he said, "What did you do, hit him?". My Father has Parkinsons Disease and it is hard taking care of him and having a mental illness I had a really bad time with withdrawal from Paxil and am afraid to take medications now let alone something he prescribes me. Being a mental health professional and treating me this way is he breaking the law? What if I was suicidal and he said all of this, and what if he talks to other patients this way and they are suicidal, isn't he putting people at risk operating the way he does? Please tell me what you would do? Thank you,Justme
Dog's arm randomly shakes? We got our dog from a shelter, so we have no idea what her past is. We noticed that her two front legs randomly shake. They don't shake at the same time, or for any specific reason (ie. excitement, jealousy, etc), but they quiver. They don't shake all day, just random spurts. The vet said that it could be from a lack of vitamins, so we gave her a vitamin a day and it still won't stop. the shaking isn't affecting her in any way, she can run normally and walk normally. We only notice it when she is standing still. My mom and I think maybe she was run over as a young dog, but when i squeeze the nerves between her paws, she does react, so she does have feeling. I'm just wondering if this is normal? It's not really important to get her to stop the uncontrollable shaking, I'm just curious if its normal. is there such thing as doggie parkinsons? I apologize...she is a little over a year old the vet says...And she eats perfectly fine, probably a little too fine. My family and I save her a couple of bites of our food when we're done eating, but we don't feed her whole people meals. But I do realize that dogs are probably better off without people food at all. oh yeah, and she is part black lab and part cocker spaniel (not sure if its one or 2 words)
how did your upbringing influence your religious beliefs or non beliefs? were there any defining moments? Here is mine... My Grandmother was a devout catholic. We used to go on walks and do the rosary together. My dad, her son, killed himself when I was 5. When I was 22 my Grandmother told me that when my dad died, the priest told my grandparents that my dad was in hell and to forget about him. They trusted the priest and took his advice, leaving my dad's ashes in another state and holding no ceremony for him. By then she was extremely ill with Parkinsons. She asked me to put my dad to rest. My husband and I did and took her to his burial. You could see the guilt lift from her. It was then I knew that I could never be a part of catholicism again. Those beliefs caused my grandmother deep pain and regret... Thanks for sharing...
Humane way to Euthanize a Hamster? I have an older hamster, and when I awoke today he is not moving right. He shakes when he walks, looks like a person with Parkinsons. The vet is SO exspensive, and this is an off pay week for me. And he is SO cold, like the animals I have had die on me at the pet store where I work. Would it be acceptable to overdose him on cough syrup? It should put him to sleep permenately, I would think. I just want him to have a quick and painless death... The cough syrup I was talking about was the Nyquil equivalant, with the stuff in it to help you sleep. And I did call the local SPCA, they wanted over $100 to put him to sleep. It was cheaper when we had to have our 19 year old dog euthanized. I feel awful, but I don't want to put him through the stress of a long car rife either, he is clearly in pain whenever he moves. He's already been blind for awhile, but still moved well so I didn't want to put him down for that. I just want him to peacefully go to sleep. I have been keeping him warm, and moved him to a cage he can move more easily in. He seems to be moving a bit better, so maybe he had a stroke or something and is recovering a bit. As long as he seems comfortable and is able to move and eat and drink I'm not going to have him put down. But I am putting money away next week so I can have him eithanized by a vet, I don't really want to do it myself either, but I just think being at home would be better for him, so if I can find a good way to do it at home I will. Thanks so much for the suggestions and condolences.
A question about miracles...? There are many people out there that can "testify" that they have seen or been touched by a miracle. People who were deaf/blind are able to see/hear thru the power of Jesus. People who have untreatable cancer suddenly become cancer free. People with Parkinsons and other disabilitating diseases are suddenly cured. People who were bed ridden or paralyzed can now walk. You can find stories like this all over the internet, in churches, on radio/talk shows, etc. My question is...what about people who have lost a limb? The amputees? When was the last time you had someone lose an arm or leg and suddenly it grows back? Why arent these people (and so far NONE have been documented or claimed) lucky enough to be cured of thier disablity? Does Jesus not like amputees? Why arent these people subject to miracles but everyone else is? Jesus constantly performs miracles for people with other disabilites but how come no one with an amputated leg gets a new one? Why is everyone else so special? fruitcake: how can you say its not natural for a limb to grow back? ever pulled the tail off of a lizard...it grows back! what about starfish..you cut one up and in a few days/weeks...ta da! its whole again. sue: what kind of answer was that? ''you seem like you already made your mind up about this" i havent made up my mind about anything, i truely want to know an answer to my question. just because you dont have an answer and its not in your "book" doesnt mean its not a valid question to ask

Caring for my Grandmother? My Grandma and I have a speacial bond.. We shair the same birthday and everything. I am 25 and have a family of my own but here is what has happened... My Grandma had congestive heart failure and several strokes a few years back and she has parkinsons as well. Ever sense that happened she could no longer take care of herself. So her children decided (Because it has always been her wish NOT to go to a nursing home.) that they would pay someone to take care of her. They found a woman who is 85 and cant physicaly do anything but make her meals and walk with her to the potty. She cant give her a bath, cant changer her sheets, cant pick her up if she falls. Well then my Grandma ran out of money to take care of this. So we moved my Grandma into my mothers house. My mom works by traveling. She makes ok money but it is all going to Grandma's care and her bills. She has no retirement or anything and cant save because of taking care of Grandma... My sister lived with my mom up untill 4 weeks ago when she moved out. My brother was here for 3 more days then he went to Prison for not meeting his probation agreement. So I had to move in to take care of Grandma. Thats perfectly ok with me, the only down side is that I cant leave the house anymore and am having to rely on everyone else to do things I need to do. Its like being on house arrest all the time. To top that off the woman they had hired before is here during the day because Mom had set that up so that my brother could go to his job. However my current job is at my house and this woman is getting on my last nerve! I need a way that I can replace her... Someone who is monitered by not only me but by a case worker or something... Right now my mom is paying 240 a week for the woman to come in and do NOTHING and I cant get the help I need with Grandma. .... Where can I turn for assistance?? What kind of help is out there for people like me and my Grandma?
restless leg syndrome maybe ,? I have extreme pain and it is worst durring rest , I mean for 2 years I have been suffering , the pain is worse in feet and legs like burning , numbness , stabbing and oddly these feelings can radiate to my stomach and lungs (strange) and even my face, I dont work because of this , also along with the pain is uncontrollable muscle movements like seen in parkinsons. I dont work because of this , The thing is symptoms are always there but movement reduces them , and when i walk They are pretty much gone , but I have to shake my legs when im watching tv or going to bed. I have been seeing docters for 2 years ( many of them) and explain my symptoms , and these guys are idiots to a point i wonder how they got their degree. These docters just say its anxiety and depression , I cant believe that anxiety can cause severe pain and uncontrollable muscle spasms. These docters are mental and they gave me anti depressants , which never work. I have been reading does this sound like RLS?
what is stressing you ? and can you help me with mine? so whats stressing you ? just let it all out here. this is whats stressing me, help? : i sleep all day and nap for about 4 hours everytime i get home from school. i fake happy all the time because really im stressed out as hell and cant stand myself. i used to weigh like 95 pounds last year and now i weigh 111 and i feel fat and i cant stand it and i feel ugly. not my last boyfriend but the one before that controled me every second of my life and i couldnt see my friends and he ruined my life and now hes getting filed for harassment on me because he would never leave me alone i got calls 20 times a day and texts every hour if i didnt answer he would keep sending it and sending it every friggin minute. he never left me alone. i didnt even like him and he still tried to be with me. my best friend has cancer and shes a sex addict and cant stop cheating on her husband who is now her ex that shes dating and shes suicidal because her horse which is like her life died. my grandpa is dying of parkinsons disease and sometimes he doesnt even remember me. i look at him and say "hi poppy" and he says to me "who are you?" one time he thought i was his sister..thing is, he doesnt have one. he thinks he lives in new jersey and all this stuff..its sucks. he cant walk. i feel unimportant and that nobody likes me..my self-esteem is so low right now i dont know what to do with myself. no one in my family wants me my brothers ******* hate me, i dont talk to my dad, and my mom says im a spoiled bratty ***** pretty much and she "jokes" that she wants to give me up. says she doesnt know what to do with me. i used to get straight as and now im getting cs and bs and all my friends do so great and i hate it because they dont even try and i work my butt off to get good grades and i dont get them and no one thinks i try also about my ex boyfriend, hes emotionally scarred me. its too much to say everything he did to me, but now i cant get emotionally attached to a guy and when one likes me alot i have a hard time dealing with it and i dont like it it makes me feel sick when they say how much they like me and stuff. if a guy talks to me for too long i push them away and get mad because my ex talked to me for more than half of the day on the phone because he called me so much. i cant get close to any guy. i like flirting and stuff still but once it gets serious i feel sick and dont like it. i dont like having boyfriends anymore or the idea of being taken. when my other ex after him showed to much affection i felt sick and pushed him away. how do i get over this ? i dont want to be like this forever and my best friend, right now shes sleeping with about 10 guys and some of them beat her and she prostitutes herself for some of them and she cant get it through her head how bad this is and she just wont stop
My grandmother needs help? She has very mild parkinsons and she is 65 but her symptoms include her being very dizzy (to the point its hard for her to walk) and she feels very weak all the time she also has trouble eating any protein she says it makes her even sicker also her blood sugar bounces very high with anything she eats it almost jumps to the point of where she could have a stroke. she has seen countless doctors and none of them know whats wrong. She had open heart surgery about 8 years ago and everything went fine i dont know if the surgery had anything to do with it but i thought the more details the better. please anyone help us we are almost to the point of no return.

Hiccups? Health professionals only please.? My stepfather has had hiccups for the last 2 days. They have kept him up all night. We have called the dr. and they sent some stomache medecine, we tried bananas and soda crackers, tums, tagamet. He has congestive heart failure, the beginnings of Parkinsons. He is obese and has diabetes, and also somethimes his food gets stuck. He has trouble getting up out of a chair and sometimes has trouble starting walking. Any ideas of what we should do? He takes ambien at least 2x a night and still has terrible insomnia and gets up all night on a regular basis. This seems wrong. His desk is right outside my bedroom door and his hiccups are sounding like he is going to throw up. This has been going on for hours and is making me ill.
Breast cancer? Why is breast cancer a hot topic? I think that it is wrong to just sell pins none stop and have talk shows about 24x7x365. We also have walks, talks etc.... yes it is terrible thing but if women take care of them self and do check ups they can be proactive... and save themselfs.... how about diseases or illnesses that people cant do anything about- like parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, leukimia, Lou gerids etc... how about them? I think Breast cancer is terrible but you have options...other people dont... why dont we focus on disease in general... or is this a fear thing on women...

I have a service dog(mobility assistance) & have lived in my condo for 2 yrs. upon moving in here I provided? the association with all of his training, shots & pertinent papers including(at their insistance) a letter from my from my Dr. stating the reasons for & absolute need for my dog. My dog has never had any complaints lodged against him and is an integral part of my life. My mobility has improved & I currently do not use his leather harness w/handle for support but could need to do so at any time. Since I've lived here his ID vest has not been required when walking or taking him to potty. Now the BOARD is DEMANDING his vest is to be worn at all times when he is out. This would be confusing for him since when his vest is on him he is in working mode. What are my rights? Do I have to comply when doing so will result in undermining his training & restrict his free,non-working time. I have Parkinsons and a balance disorder that has improved w/new meds. & am on total disability. I Iive in Tarpon Springs,FL. There is a 35 lb. weight limit in this complex, my dog is 70 lbs. He was trained by myself & my son and tested by a professional trainer for 2 weeks & passed on ALL points ! I believe someone has complained re: his size. Hence the BOARD is now trying to enforce a rule that was not there to begin with. I'm a respectful, peaceful resident & have had NO problems here otherwise. There is NOTHING in my lease in reference to this new rule. There are many dogs here.
Grandfathers Brain Shrinking?? My grandfather who is 86 years old went to the doctor and he was told that his brain was shrinking little by litte. Is that actually possible?? if so, what the name of the disease?? He shows signs of parkinsons like his left hand shakes when he's resting, he doesnt turn corners very well when walking, drools on occasions. Also he tells us stories from when he was young but he has already told us the stories like 10 times!! And sometimes he changes the stories around. So is his brain really shrinking or did we get the information wrong??? Did they mean he has alzheimers?
My mom has Orthostatic Tremor. Any non-drug things that can help? My mom has a condition called orthostatic tremor. It just means that she can't stand in one place for very long or she trembles and has to sit down. It's different than what's called "essential tremor". She has NO problems walking, only when she stands in one spot. She's tried taking the standard drugs for this, but they are all basically sedatives that cause her to be drowsy and feel "drugged out". Is there anything natural out there that might help? Condition description: Primary Orthostatic Tremor, also known as Orthostatic Tremor (OT), is a neurological movement disorder, characterized by high frequency tremors of the legs when in a standing position, and an immediate sense of instability. Because of the speed of the contractions (13-18 Hz)* you may not recognize the problem as a tremor as compared to the more common essential tremor (4-7 Hz) or Parkinsons (3-6Hz) which produces a very visible movement. website: http://orthostatictremor.org/...
Want to have a good laugh? An old man and old woman met after both became residents at a retirement home. They began to get pretty friendly, and really enjoyed each other's company. After about 3 weeks of getting to know each other, the old man said to the woman, "I know we are both old and can't do much sexually anymore, but if I pulled out my penis, would you hold it?" The woman did not see what that would hurt, so she said she would. Every day for the next month the couple would sit in the park by the lake and the old woman would hold the man's penis. One day the man didn't show up at their regular meeting place. The woman became concerned and set out to search for him. Further down the shore she spotted him sitting on a bench, with another woman beside him. She walked up to the bench to find his penis in the other woman's hand. This upset her very much and she yelled at the old man, "We have been together for 2 months now, I thought we were getting along just fine. Now I find you here with this other woman. What does she have that I don't?" "Parkinsons!" replied the old man with a smile. A man and his dog are shipwrecked on a deserted island. After a few days he decides to take the dog and reconnoiter the island. He discovers that the only other inhabitants are sheep. He recalls how his farm buddies would brag how they would screw sheep for kicks and he says to himself: "I'll never be that desperate." So, a few weeks later he can't get those sheep out of his mind, and soon he's sneaking up on the flock. Just as he is about to pounce on a really cute one, the dog grabs his leg and won't let go. He snaps out of it, and thanks the dog for keeping him from making a fool of himself. This same scene happens every night for a month and the guy starts to get really pissed at the dog. Then one day, the man spies a life-raft bobbing in the surf. In the raft is a beautiful young girl, barely alive. He takes her back to his hut, revives her and nurses her to health. After a few days the girl is feeling fine, and that evening a rush of gratitude sweeps over her.... She confronts the man: "I owe you my life. I'm yours forever. I'll do anything you want" "Anything?" "Anything!!" "OK, hold that dog for ten minutes!!!"
A little dirty...but funny? Julie (an elder lady at the old folks home) seen her friend Bill setting down over on the bench with his head down crying. Concerned, she walked over to him and asked him what the problem was. He said "Well..you know I just miss the relationships." "what part do you miss?"she replied He looked at her with a little shame and said "The sex Julie..Can you help me? or maybe could you rub it?" Julie was a bit in shocked of coarse. "No Bill i cannot do that. I just cant. I cant do either of those!" "well maybe if you just held it..please Julie I may not have too long to live" he pleaded. So she decided to do so. This went on for a couple weeks and she didnt mind anymore. She would go out there and hold it for him. But one day she came out around the normal time she did but Bill wasnt there. She spotted him over by the bank w/ Wanda (another elder lady). She was kinda upset and marched over and said "Bill! Whats she have that I dont have huh?" and he replied "Parkinsons' disease."
Dog's odd behavior...?? Okay so I have an almost-15 year old terrier, norwich or norfolk, can't remember which. She's always been a well behaved dog...knew what places in the house she was & was not allowed, etc. Problem is, recently within the past couple years she's started this odd habit of ripping up paper....tp, napkins, etc. Just tonight, my sister had to shoo her out of the bathroom cause she got a hold of the toilet paper (unrolled close enough to the floor I guess) and was just sitting there tearing it up. What exactly would cause such odd behavior like that after all these years? There's been no change in our behavior towards her to cause rebellion or whatever. We make sure she has food & water, she's loved tremendously and isn't ignored because there is always someone around. (My Dad is home all the time because he can't work & is on disability...has Parkinsons, Fibromyalgia & Osteoperosis. Sad, I know.) Could it be boredom maybe? She's still fairly active yet shows no interest in walks or toys... We have thought about the fact that maybe she IS in fact going senile...she's already slowly going blind & deaf. Poor pup. The only change that's been in the house is a new baby but she's only 8 months old...the dog has been doing this for about 2 YEARS.

Because of the speed of the contractions (13-18 Hz)* you may not recognize the problem as a tremor as compared to the more common essential tremor (4-7 Hz) or Parkinsons (3-6Hz) which produces a very visible movement. website: http://orthostatictremor.org/
Do I have Parkinsons Diease? When I try to walk I freeze. Sometimes I shuffle when I walk. My hand shakes like I am shaking a salt shaker. I am kind of drooling.
